AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas house fire has left a 61-year-old woman dead and her son injured.

The Austin Fire Department says the blaze broke out before dawn Tuesday. Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the fire.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the name of the woman who died. Her son, who was also in the home in East Austin, was treated for smoke inhalation.

Battalion Chief Palmer Buck estimates the house has about $100,000 in damage.
