UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) - Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire that ripped through a row of stores in suburban Philadelphia.

The blaze broke out just after 5:30 p.m. Monday at a shoe store in Upper Darby. Officials say the fire grew and forced the evacuation of more than 20 homes in the area.

It took nearly 200 firefighters several hours to control the blaze.

Investigators say seven stores were affected by the fire.

At least one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.

Investigators don’t know what caused the fire, but say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
