DALLAS (AP) - Police say a Brigham Young University football recruit who is facing a sex assault charge in Texas was shot Sunday after a fight over money.

The Dallas Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1gmwbX3) that 18-year-old Charles West was treated and released after being shot in his left arm.

Police say the running back was shot by a man he knew as he was playing basketball at a middle school in a suburb of Dallas.

West said he started to run away when the man showed up with a gun after the two fought over money earlier in the day.

The shooter was identified by West and is facing a felony assault charge.

A sex assault charge against West, who has signed on to play football at BYU, from January is still pending.
