FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Washington County prosecutors say charges against a man accused of raping and torturing a cellmate have been dismissed after the victim refused to testify.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1HKvrVL ) reports the trial for the 20-year-old suspect was set to begin Tuesday. His charges had included two counts of accomplice to rape and accomplice to battery in the December 2013 attack.

The suspect’s co-defendant was convicted in November of similar charges in the same incident and sentenced to two consecutive 60-year terms at the Arkansas Department of Correction.

The 19-year-old victim previously testified that the men attacked him and threatened to cut off his finger if he resisted or reported the abuse.
