MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a man found in woods in suburban New York has been ruled a homicide.

Police say Jose Sanchez was a day laborer who was known to frequent the area near Lieto Drive in Mount Kisco.

According to the Journal News (https://lohud.us/1KOtoB8 ), the medical examiner said blunt force trauma wounds on his body suggested there was a struggle before he died.

The 53-year-old victim was missing for about a day before he was found in the swampy terrain around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the area is between the Chappaqua Brook and Metro-North tracks. It’s known as a hangout for men to drink and sometimes squat.

Police believe that Sanchez and the suspect knew each other.
