SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy faces domestic battery and assault charges after officials say he beat his girlfriend and set her hair on fire.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1RhQmpw ) that an Orange County District Attorney’s office statement says 33-year-old Alejandro Flores was charged Monday.

On June 28, Flores and his girlfriend got in another fight. This time he pushed her into a wall, hit her on top of the head, grabbed her neck and knocked her to the ground.

He is accused of then dragging her into the kitchen and holding her over the stove, lighting her hair on fire.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to request for comment about Flores’ job status.

Flores is expected in court Tuesday for arraignment.
