DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Department of Corrections officials say an inmate who escaped a work release program has been recaptured.

Department spokesman Bob Horton says 46-year-old Theodore Dewayne Lockett was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at a park in Decatur Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said Lockett had completed his assignment at a work release site early Friday morning but was gone when corrections officers came to pick him up. Horton says Lockett tried running when the marshal approached him.

Lockett was serving a 20-year sentence for robbery.
