CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - The Douglas County sheriff is asking the public for help in finding a person who shot and killed a 60-year-old camper from Monument.

Investigators believe Glenn Martin was shot by accident while camping in the Rainbow Falls Park area of the Pike National Forest on Friday, but they say they haven’t ruled anything out yet.

They’re asking anyone who was shooting a high-powered rifle in the area or anyone who noticed someone doing so to contact the sheriff’s office. Sgt. Ron Hanavan says shooting is not allowed in the area where Martin was struck.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports Martin’s family heard gunshots in the forest and mentioned it to a ranger before they settled into camp and started to build a fire.
