FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota State University track and field standout Erin Teschuk is a national champion in her native Canada.

The junior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, won the title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the recent Canadian Track and Field Championships in Edmonton, Alberta. Her winning time set a meet record. She also earns a spot on Team Canada at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, in August.

Teschuk also will compete for Canada in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the 2015 Pan American Games later this month in Toronto.

Teschuk is the first woman in NDSU history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track at the Division I level. Her three first-team All-America citations are the most ever by a Bison.
