VALHALLA, N.Y. (AP) - The state Commission of Correction has found that two Westchester County Jail nurses displayed “gross incompetence” in the treatment of an inmate who died after complaining of stomach and chest pains.

It says the nurses missed “obvious cardiac symptoms” regarding Rashod McNulty.

The commission’s report criticized the nurses for abandoning McNulty when he was in obvious distress in January 2013. It said Smith suggested McNulty was faking it and sent him back to his cell.
