PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Phoenix man is claiming self-defense after he allegedly killed his roommate after an argument.

Phoenix police say 34-year-old Philip Daniel Shores is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and outstanding warrants.

Shore’s bond was set Tuesday at $500,000 at his initial court appearance. He doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

Police say Shores allegedly got into an argument with his roommate over rent payment and electronics Monday.

He allegedly shot the man and called police.

The 53-year-old victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn’t been released yet.

Authorities say Shores is being cooperative in the investigation and claiming self-defense in the shooting.
