NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - Police say a former police officer in Rhode Island has been arrested after a mother accused him of molesting her 12-year-old daughter.

Timothy Paul, of North Smithfield, was arrested Sunday following a complaint that was filed from the mother stating that 52-year-old Paul molested her child at his house.

The former Woonsocket police officer is charged with child molestation and disorderly conduct.

Paul tells WJAR-TV that he’s horrified, devastated and that he won’t get his reputation back.

He was arraigned and released on Monday. He’s due back in court in September.
