WITMANN, Ariz. (AP) - Strong winds from a monsoon storm snapped approximately 20 power poles and knocking out power to more than 1,700 Arizona Public Service Co. customers in the Wittmann area northwest of Phoenix.

Numerous APS crews responded to the Monday evening storm damage and restored power to most of the customers by Tuesday morning.

The storm also caused local street flooding in areas near U.S. 60.

The National Weather Service says a trained weather spotter reported a microburst in the area with winds up to 45 mph and heavy rain.
