STAUNTON, Va. (AP) - Bicyclists have been invited to take part in an online study to research how cycling in the Shenandoah Valley affects businesses.

The News Leader (https://bit.ly/1Hap6yf ) reports that the “Bicycling in the Shenandoah Valley” analysis is being conducted by the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, along with tourism agencies in the region.

According to a news release, the study will examine the retail, lodging and restaurant choices that cyclists make in the area. That information will help the planning of future bicycle tourism campaigns to achieve the most positive economic effect possible.

Earlier this year, the City of Staunton established a panel that will seek to make the city more accommodating to bikers and walkers.

Visitors and residents are encouraged to take the survey, which can be found at surveymonkey.com/s/shenvalleybiking.
