ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say a 39-year-old man who barricaded himself inside a home the northwest Alaska village of Selawik is charged with murder in the death of a 23-year-old man.

Troopers say Christopher Cleveland of Selawik was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in the death Monday of Wade Cleveland, of Selawik.

Christopher Cleveland’s arrest came after he barricaded himself inside a home for hours Monday before he surrendered. Troopers say Wade Cleveland was found dead outside the home.

According to troopers, alcohol is suspected to have been involved in the incident.

Christopher Cleveland is in custody at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center in Nome. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

The body of the victim is being sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
