FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) - About 4,000 members of the New York Army National Guard’s 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are heading to Fort Drum for annual training exercises.

The training is scheduled for July 11-31. Key events include air assault operations, tactical maneuvers, artillery firing, logistics support and chemical, biological and radiological training.

Motorists may see increased military traffic on highways as Guard units move to and from Fort Drum.

The 27th Brigade Combat Team is headquartered in Syracuse with units across the state.

The brigade deployed to Afghanistan in 2008-2009 and Kuwait in 2012. Its soldiers also responded to Tropical Storms Irene and Lee in 2011 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
