FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - University of Arkansas backup running back Kody Walker has been granted a sixth year of eligibility after two season-ending injuries.

The university received news of the medical hardship from the NCAA and Southeastern Conference on Wednesday. Walker will be re-classified as a junior and he is eligible to play in the 2015 and 2016 football seasons.

Walker was a standout performer in the Razorbacks spring game, rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He suffered season-ending injuries during the first two seasons of his career in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks will return one of the top backfields in the nation with Walker, Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins. They are a near consensus top 25 preseason selection.
