VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a man reportedly dragged into the Yazoo Diversion Canal after his truck’s brakes failed.

Multiple media outlets report that the body of 79-year-old Arthur Green Jr., of Vicksburg, was found Tuesday after divers searched the waters near Vicksburg’s City Front.

Officials say Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Vicksburg Fire Department and Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries boats assisted in the search for Green who, a witness said, was clinging onto the truck before it went under the water.

Police Chief Walter Armstrong says the witness reported Green yelled that the brakes had failed.

Authorities say rescue crews working with a local tow truck company were able to pull Green’s truck from the canal.
