TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Blustery winds coming from the north have driven several boats ashore in Traverse City.

Traverse City Fire Department Chief Jim Tuller says it’s common that north winds will drive boats aground. The Traverse City Record-Eagle (https://bit.ly/1S7bnyk ) reports emergency officials received reports Tuesday of anchored boats running aground near the city’s volleyball beach.

Tuller says officials tried to reach boaters to warn them about the winds. He says boaters should stick to proper techniques for anchoring.
