REDDING, Calif. (AP) - The father of a missing 6-month-old girl was released Wednesday from jail after settling a probation violation case unrelated to his daughter’s disappearance.

Matthew Graham, 24, is still considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his baby daughter, Ember Graham, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Kropholler said.

Kropholler said detectives seized Graham’s pickup truck and took it to the evidence lab for processing.

Graham was arrested on an unrelated probation violation stemming from driving under the influence and a forgery conviction last Thursday, the same day he reported his baby daughter missing from his Happy Valley home.

The sherriff’s office said Graham became a person of interest in his daughter’s disappearance after giving inconsistent statements to investigators.

Graham was released after admitting to a probation violation allegation that he did not complete a 60-day work program, the Redding Searchlight reported.

A judge ordered Graham to complete the 45 days he has left remaining and an additional 30 days to settle the probation case. He will also be required to wear an ankle monitor and report to probation.

The sheriff’s office on Tuesday suspended the search for the baby, saying it had found no evidence to support Graham’s story that the baby was abducted.

Officials said surveillance video shows Ember Graham unfastened in a safety seat inside her father’s truck. Graham told authorities he took the baby for a drive Wednesday night to get her to fall asleep, went to the store and then drove back home.

But the video shows him driving the opposite direction from his home when he leaves the store. His pickup truck is again recorded on video heading toward his home about an hour later, officials said.
