SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - A Silver Spring family who was unaccounted for after the family’s home was engulfed in flames has been found safe.

Fire officials say the family of four was out of town when the two-story home caught on fire early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters saw two cars in the home’s driveway, but searched the house and were unable to locate the family for several hours. About 75 firefighters responded to the scene.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says both the floors and a portion of the home’s roof collapsed in the fire.

It is still unclear what started the fire.
