HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - The Henderson home of a Clark County firefighter was damaged in an overnight fire that officials say apparently started in the garage and couldn’t be doused with a garden hose.

Henderson city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards says no one was hurt in the blaze about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Manteno Court. That’s near Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Richards says the homeowner discovered the fire, called 911 and sprayed flames with water from a garden hose until fire crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to prevent the spread of the fire from the garage to other parts of the two-story house.

Damage was estimated at about $185,000. Richards says the cause of the fire is being investigated.
