BRETZ, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia State Police say human remains found in Preston County will be sent to the state medical examiner.

State police tell media outlets that hikers discovered the remains around 5:15 p.m. Monday in a rural area near Bretz.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and whether the remains are those of a Preston County man who was reported missing in April.
