OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The John Morrell Food Group has extended its efforts to fight hunger with a donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Together with Homeland Stores, the company has donated 500 pounds of John Morrell ham to the nonprofit group. John Morrell also matched Homeland Stores’ customers’ donations of $8,890 to support No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.

The event is a local complement to the company’s commitment to No Kid Hungry, which is fighting childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and have healthy meals in the summer.

One in four children in Oklahoma struggles with hunger. The Regional Food Bank partners with No Kid Hungry to empower families with skills to prepare healthy and affordable meals at home.
