SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Springfield fire officials have identified a man who died in an overnight fire in the Forest Park neighborhood.

Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger says 34-year-old Justin Moody was found in the first-floor living room of the house on Eleanor Road. The body of the family’s dog was found near Moody.

Leger says Moody’s mother and another person escaped the flames without injury.

The fire started at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. It also damaged the siding of a neighboring home.

The state fire marshal’s office and Springfield fire investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire. Investigators say it started on the exterior front of the house.
