MILTON, W.Va. (AP) - Police in Milton say they have arrested a couple whose two disabled children were found in a home littered with trash, dog feces and insects.

A criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Cabell County Magistrate Court charged 37-year-old James Hunden and 35-year-old Shelley Hunden with child neglect creating risk of injury. They are in jail on $30,000 bond apiece.

Police said one of the children is autistic and the other requires a breathing tube. Media outlets report Cabell County Child Protective Services removed the children ages 8 and 9 along with three dogs from the home.

The complaint says the home had a strong smell of dog feces and urine, and officers found feces on the children’s clothes and feet. Ants and flies also were throughout the home.
