HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a 90-year-old woman whose body was found in her Hollywood home has been ruled a homicide.

In a statement released Tuesday, police spokeswoman Meredith Elrich says the death of Helen Townsend was ruled a homicide after the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office received the results of Townsend’s autopsy.

Police say that Townsend’s body was discovered inside her home Monday. Police said then they were treating Townsend’s death as suspicious.

Elrich says that detectives are not releasing details about Townsend’s death because of an active investigation.
