CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a volunteer for the mentoring program Big Brothers Big Sisters has been arrested on multiple charges of sexual assault on a child.

The Charlotte Observer (https://bit.ly/1RjbSdu ) reports that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say 38-year-old Ryan Michael Hill was charged this week with 10 counts of indecent liberties with a child and eight counts of statutory rape/sex offense.

Authorities say a 16-year-old told them that he had been sexually assaulted by Hill over the last two years. Police say Hill had been mentoring the teen through the Big Brothers program since he was 12.

Police say investigators searched Hill’s home Monday, taking several items related to the case, and arrested him.

Hill was booked into Mecklenburg County jail, with bond set at $450,000. It wasn’t clear if he has an attorney.
