ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) - Police arrested a registered sex offender accused of stealing a car from the woman whose porch he was living on.

The Roseburg News-Review reports (https://is.gd/PQ36Mq ) 42-year-old Michael Jepsen was arrested after returning on foot to say the car was out of gas.

Jepsen lived on the porch in Oakland, Oregon, for about six weeks. The woman told officers she knew little about him, except he used to own a video game store in Sutherlin.

The porch is across from Oakland City Park, and police found that Jepsen is prohibited from going where children congregate.

Police say Jepsen was booked into a Roseburg jail on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, failing to register as a sex offender and interfering with making a police report.
