PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Members of the largest union representing employees of Philadelphia’s two largest newspapers and their companion website have ratified a new two-year contract.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1dM45Co ) reports that Newspaper Guild of Greater Philadelphia members voted 259-12 on Tuesday in favor of the pact with Philadelphia Media Network.

The union represents many editorial, advertising and circulation workers at The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com.

The newspaper reports that the deal calls for no increase in health care costs and an end to unpaid furloughs but allows management to exempt up to one-quarter of any group of employees from seniority-based layoffs.
