ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A high ranking admiral in the U.S. Navy has visited Albany as part of a goodwill tour to highlight New York state’s contributions to his branch of the armed forces.

Rear Admiral Thomas Moore traveled to the state Capitol on Tuesday ahead of a trip to Saratoga Springs. Moore said it’s part of an effort to inform New Yorkers about the Navy’s mission and to thank the state for its support.

Moore is the program executive officer for the navy’s aircraft carriers.

He told The Associated Press that more than 100 suppliers in New York provide the Navy with vital equipment for ships, including computer chips, valves, pumps and condensers.
