KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Officials at Western Michigan University will name the school’s new alumni center Heritage Hall.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1foqHLd ) that school trustees voted unanimously Wednesday on the name.

The center will be in the old East Hall building which was gutted for the redevelopment. A ribbon cutting and open house are scheduled Oct. 23. A community open house will be held Oct. 25.

Heritage Hall will feature a restored fireplace from the school’s North Hall, a ballroom, board room and offices.

The school has sold more than 1,300 bricks which will be personalized with donors’ names and installed in the center. More than 130 donors also will have their names inscribed on a wall at the center.
