DENVER (AP) - A man and woman are facing child abuse charges in the death of a 23-month-old boy in Denver.

Police announced the arrests of 29-year-old Candice Lampley and 27-year-old DeLonta Crank on suspicion of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Police are still awaiting autopsy results and the potential charges could change based on the results.

Police didn’t reveal their relationship with the boy, who was taken alive to a hospital by someone on Wednesday and later pronounced dead.

Earl Lampley, who told reporters that he was the boy’s grandfather, said Lampley is the boy’s mother and Crank is her boyfriend.

Both Lampley and Crank are being held without bond and it’s not clear if they have lawyers yet.
