LOS ANGELES (AP) - At least three water main breaks sent torrents of water down streets and flooded underground parking garages in separate areas of Los Angeles.

The largest rupture occurred before dawn Thursday near Vermont Avenue and Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, buckling pavement and forcing road closures.

Television news footage showed water halfway up the doors of cars parked in underground garages. Water was still flowing hours later. No damage estimates have been released.

About a mile to the west another water main break flooded roadways near Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

To the north in the San Fernando Valley, a much smaller rupture sent water into the streets of Lakeview Terrace.
