ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - A 43-year-old Alamogordo police officer has been arrested a second time in a week.

Officer Warren Whittington was arrested on suspicion of unlawful aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in late June.

He was accused of pointing a gun at rental center employees attempting to retrieve a leased laptop from his home during a late May incident, after which the Police Department placed him on administrative leave.

New Mexico State Police arrested Whittington on Monday on suspicion of battery against a household member, criminal damage to property of a household member and interference with communications.

Online court records don’t list an attorney who could comment on his behalf regarding the allegations.

Police Lt. Roger Schoolcraft says Whittington will be held accountable for his actions if proven guilty.
