ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police say a 27-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of his 16-year-old sister.

Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1gq4ZGL) the girl was shot multiple times Thursday morning in the bedroom of her family’s apartment at The Villages of East Lake.

Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said in a statement that witnesses told investigators the girl’s brother, Marquavis Oglesby, shot the teen in her sleep. Lyon says Oglesby was taken into custody without incident when police arrived.

Lyon says Oglesby was interviewed by investigators, charged in the girl’s death and is being held in the DeKalb County jail. It’s unclear if he has an attorney and investigators are unsure of the motive that led to the shooting.
