SOLDOTNA, Alaska (AP) - Human remains found last month by a wildfire crew have been identified as those of a missing Soldotna man.

Alaska State Troopers say remains recovered were those of James Beaver, who had been missing since March 4, 2011.

His next of kin was notified.

Troopers on June 1 received a report that a fire crew on a wildfire near Sterling had found human remains.

Troopers flew to the site by helicopter, photographed bones and collected them for examination.

Troopers at the time said the bones appeared to have been there for several years.

The human remains were turned over to the state medical examiner.
