HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - A tree house is planned on the grounds of the Howell Nature Center in Livingston County.

The tree house will be built in the Alexandria’s Nature Scape playscape area of the nature center. A groundbreaking is Thursday.

Plans include a 20-foot-by-16-foot treehouse with a 3-foot-wide walkway all around. Three satellite platforms will be connected by bridges.

The Spirit of Alexandria Foundation is working with the Howell Nature Center on the project. Both nonprofits have worked together on past projects.

Fundraising for the tree house is ongoing. The foundation’s 9th Annual Spirit of Alexandria Open is planned for July 28 in Rochester Hills. Donors will have the opportunity to sponsor individual decking boards, entire decks and connecting bridges for the project.
