RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County fire officials say an 87-year-old man died and his daughter was critically injured in a fire in their Randallstown home.

The fire was reported about 8:20 a.m. Monday in the one-story house. Officials say firefighters encountered heavy fire, and rescued two people from the home.

Authorities say Wilfred Owen Quimby was pronounced dead at Northwest Hospital. His daughter, 57-year-old Ellen Ameta McColl, was in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
