DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police say a man will be charged with vehicular homicide after a pickup truck he was driving plowed through two fences and killed a 6-year-old boy playing on a backyard trampoline.

Police say the child died about 12:30 p.m. Monday when a pickup driven by 44-year-old Guadalupe Villa-Guzman rear-ended a van and then careened off a road, crashing through two fences before hitting a trampoline on which two children were playing. The pickup pushed the trampoline into a drainage ditch.

Aguilar-Gonzalez, of Des Moines, died. A 4-year-old friend received minor injuries.

Police say Villa-Guzman was hospitalized for an issue not caused by the crash. When he’s released, police say he’ll be charged with vehicular homicide by reckless driving, reckless driving causing serious injury and driving while suspended.
