BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - Two businesses are facing a civil lawsuit from the Kern County district attorney’s office over allegations that they defrauded veterans.

KBAK-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1KHSpPv) Deputy Kern County District Attorney John Mitchell says as many as 200 veterans were signed up for services they never received from Michael McWilliams and his two companies, Ally Senior Care and Senior Veterans Benefit Advocates.

Kern County Veteran Services Department Director Dick Taylor says many of the victims that have been identified so far are veterans of World War II and the Korean war. Victims are urged to contact Kern County veteran services.

McWilliams did not return a message left at Ally Senior Care, and the woman who answered the phone there said no one would comment on the lawsuit.
