ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the east branch of the Ausable River in the Adirondack Mountains.

The warning for the AuSable Forks area extends until late Monday night.

Water was nearing 6 feet just after 8 a.m. Monday.

Flood stage is 7 feet. Water is expected to rise above that level by late Monday morning and continue to rise to near 7.8 feet by afternoon. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by evening.

Forecasters say minor flooding is possible in Keene, and water also is expected to flow onto Route 73 and Route 9N near Marcy Field.
