HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say an officer was injured when a man threw hot coals in his face.

Police tell local media the officer was responding to a call about a domestic disturbance around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say a woman had called because her husband threatened to set the house on fire.

When the officer arrived, police say the husband threw hot coals in his face. The officer struggled briefly with the man, who began having medical problems.

The man was taken to a hospital, and police said he could face charges of assaulting an officer. Information on the man’s condition wasn’t immediately released.

The officer was treated for minor injuries and released.
