THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - Striker Bas Dost has pulled out of the Netherlands squad with a hamstring injury, two days after scoring the final goal in Wolfsburg’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final.
Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink still has his country’s all-time top scorer, Robin van Persie, in his 26-man squad, along with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, for a friendly on June 5 against the United States in Amsterdam and a European Championship qualifier against Latvia in Riga a week later.
Hiddink did not call up a replacement after Dost’s withdrawal on Monday.
The Netherlands is third in Group A, five points behind second-place Iceland, which takes on group leader Czech Republic in Reykjavik on June 12.
