AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Police in northeast Ohio are looking for a man they say crashed his car during a high-speed chase then ran away from officers, leaving four young children alone in the backseat.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports (https://bit.ly/1SQnLG8 ) 29-year-old Dandre Thomas was speeding in Akron Friday then refused to stop for police. Police say he crashed his Jeep after running several traffic lights and stop signs, then jumped out of the vehicle and ran from officers.

Police found four children - ages 6, 4, 3 and 1 - in the backseat of the car. It wasn’t immediately clear if they suffered injuries.

Thomas is charged with willful fleeing and child endangering. The media group reports he also has warrants out for his arrest stemming from a January home invasion.
