PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man is on trial on murder charges in the second case this year - this time in the slaying of a mother of six gunned down outside a Pittsburgh bar more than two years ago.

Opening statements were delivered Monday in Allegheny County Court in the trial of 22-year-old James Lawrence of Pittsburgh.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Berquist said Lawrence “deliberately, intentionally and premeditatedly” killed 28-year-old Tiona Jackson and wounded a man as they left Red’s Bar in February 2013.

Defense attorney Kayleigh Shebs urged jurors to question the credibility of prosecution witnesses.

In March, Lawrence was convicted of third-degree murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Steven Lee Jr. He was pulled off a party bus in the Sheraden neighborhood a month after Jackson was killed.
