ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say one person was injured when two small planes collided in midair in Talkeetna.

Troopers say 27-year-old Cole Hagge of Eagle River sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash reported shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at the Talkeetna airport. Hagge, who was piloting one of the planes, was being treated at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

Troopers say 32-year-old Antonio Benavides of Anchorage was flying the other aircraft, a Cessna 184 with four passengers on board. Troopers say the plane was about 100 feet over the runway when it collided with the Cessna 172 flown by Hagge.

Troopers say both planes sustained significant damage.

According to troopers, the National Transportation Safety Board is among those investigating the crash.

No other injuries besides Hagge’s were reported.
