SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A judge has delayed the sentencing of a Utah man convicted of murder after a body was found beneath six feet of snow near a Weber County ski resort.

Judge Randall Skanchy decided Monday to postpone sentencing for 43-year-old Viliamu Seumanu.

Prosecutors say Seumanu was one of four people who kidnapped 34-year-old victim Cleat Knight as payback for the alleged theft of drug money.

Though Seumanu wasn’t accused of pulling the trigger, prosecutors say he played a central role by taking Knight to a spot near Snowbasin resort and ordering him to sit.

Attorney Rudy Bautista said Monday that life without parole should be off the table, but prosecutors disagree.

Seumanu could go to prison for life after he was found guilty last month of murder, aggravated kidnapping and obstructing justice.
