COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) plans to travel to Iowa later this month - a signal that his decision to dive into the 2016 presidential race may be imminent.

His nonprofit New Day for America announced Monday that Kasich will visit Iowa on June 24 to speak to the Great Des Moines Partnership and at other events. He returns to New Hampshire Thursday and Friday.

The second-term Republican governor and former congressman has been traveling the country and appearing frequently on Sunday morning news shows as he determines whether he has the support and financial backing to win the GOP nomination.

He has described himself as the most qualified for the GOP’s expansive field, though he remains relatively unknown nationally.
