CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) - A 25-year-old western New York woman has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after hitting several vehicles and driving the wrong way on the New York State Thruway.

Michelle Ando of Kenmore also faces charges of reckless endangerment and reckless driving. State police say her blood alcohol content was 0.31 - nearly the four times the legal limit - when she was stopped late Sunday night.

Witnesses say Ando’s vehicle hit numerous vehicles before entering the Thruway and traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Ando was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons and later turned over to a third party and released. She’s due back in Town of Cheektowaga Court on June 17.

It could not immediately be determined if Ando has an attorney.
